#2024 Quilting Q2 and Q3 Check-In from Quilting & Learning

Hi and welcome. I missed the second quarter (Q2) check-in but since I found writing up a first quarter (Q1) check-in post so useful, I'm going to put both Q2 and Q3 here. I hope that you'll indulge me - it is a long post.

Second Quarter Check-in

April, May and June

Although I worked on a few larger projects, most of my finishes in the second quarter were smaller pieces.

Spring Tulips was an ambitious 3D art piece. The background was quilted while the vase and tulips in the vase were created with Solvy water soluble stabilizer. You ...

A bit of this and that and Free Motion Mavericks from Quilting & Learning

Hi and welcome. It's been a week filled with all kinds of things - from starting a new class to Poppy sitting and everything in between. I don't have much to share and I'm sorry that I'm late but life happens

Mosquito proofing on Free Motion Mavericks from Quilting & Learning

Hi and welcome! I've been so busy getting ready for our Outdoor Exhibition that I haven't done much else. Although I would love to play in the garden, it's been hot and humid, and now raining. I may as well do a little bit of stitching between reading books.

Mosquito proofing my swing

I bought netting curtains at Ikea and created this cover for my swing. It's one of my favourite places in the garden and has an excellent view of my birdfeeder. This was a first attempt and only needs a few adjustments to be ...

First Quarter Check-in from Quilting & Learning

Hi, I was catching up on my blog reading when I found Yvonne's Quilting Jetgirl's First Quarter Check in party and post. It's been such a whirlwind of activity here that I thought that it would be nice to actually see what I said that I would do, and what actually happened so far! Thanks Yvonne!

Quilts

In my Quilts section, I got distracted and chased a squirrel! I ended up not participating in this year's SAHRR (Stay At Home Round Robin) but instead signed up for Joanne's at Canuck Quilting ...

Scrappy Journal on Free Motion Mavericks from Quilting & Learning

Hi and welcome. ⛄ Are you under siege with snow? I'm sure that it won't stay, but it's here. At least it will be Spring again eventually!  I have a spring-like project to share.

Scrappy Journal Challenge

A few weeks ago I participated in another Vintage Page Designs Challenge. We made a Scrappy Journal. It took me longer than a week to make but I love how it turned out. I've cut up paper to create more of these in different sizes. Hopefully I'll play with them soonish.

Fall Fling Market on Free Motion Mavericks from Quilting & Learning

Welcome to week 453 of Free Motion Mavericks. I have been busy getting ready for the Out of the Box (OOTB) Fibre Artists' Fall Fling Marketplace. This will be the first one held in the Fall.

Fall Fling 2023

Fall Fling 2023 - a marketplace

The organisers had a major challenge when they found out a few weeks ago that the location that they thought they had rented, was not available. A new, even better venue was found but the posters and advertising with the old location are out there! We've all been doing our best to spread the word ...

A Journal and More Notepad Cases from Quilting & Learning

Welcome to week 451 of Free Motion Mavericks. There hasn't been any FMQ here but I have been busy making journals, refillable notepad cases and cards.

Fabric journal with long and link stitches

My brother and sister-in-law are here from Denmark and I made them some birthday gifts. For my brother's 60th birthday party, I made him a plaid fabric journal. Here it is!

I'm so happy when I can add fabric to a journal.
